Anime is supposed to be creative space for exploring new ideas
So I've been noticing lately alot of people in the comments seem very closed minded about some of the subject material some anime dive into. I've been watching anime for a very long time, I saw it at a really young age and some of the first anime i saw where really heavy....and one of the very first things I noticed was, this isn't like anything I've ever seen before, wow they are exploring some pretty dark stuff here, stuff that other media would be afraid to even think about touching. So one of the first conclusions I made was that one of the facets of anime is to explore, ask qustions, ponder upon and challenge social norms and the collectively agreed upon "acceptance " of what is right or wrong, or what can be shown or talked about. Further more one of the beauties of anime is that you can animate things, that up to that point would have be difficult or impossible to show otherwise, like a galactic dragon or the pits of ****, or a multi-dimensional crossroads between different realities, the abstract that can only be expressed through art. Cgi has changed the landscape, but anime was a bastion for creation and expression that really brought life to manga, wich in itself is it's own art form, ranging from the cute to the Macabre. Idk, mabey because I saw some gnarly stuff early on when I started my anime journey, im used to it and expect it, like I generally have an idea of what I'll be getting into when I start a new series. It seems like lots of newer people are not familiar with certain troupes, or are casuals that stumbled on to some heavy stuff, or just are looking for something to complain about. That's just kinda where I stand and my opinion, but im curious how others feel, are you an old head that's sees these newer cats as uncultured or to woke? Are you perhaps a new gen anime lover that thinks the older gen is desensitized, or some where in-between or of another stance entirely?
