Why Anime Fandom Lowkey Sucks 🥀
Anime fandom could’ve been a place to share perspectives, enjoy stories, and discuss writing. But for some Immature kiddos, it turned toxic.
Imo, these are the main reasons why anime fandom often sucks.
1. “My anime is peak, yours is trash.”::
Instead of enjoying stories, people start defending anime like it’s a religion and hate others for no reason just because they like something different.
2. Power-scaling brain rot:
Honestly, these people are still stuck in the Stone Age 🤡
3. Zero media literacy:
People watch anime with half their attention and call it “mid” after 3 episodes. Why? Because it doesn’t spoon-feed them.
(Anime like Evangelion, Lain, Monster suffer the most from this.)
4. Dopamine-addicted kids.
Mfs judge seasonal animes in 3 episodes and labeled mid because coz it’s not flashy or instantly dopamine heavy.
5. Moral absolutism.
Some fans fail to differentiate between a creator showing a character doing something bad and the creator supporting that behavior.
Instead of analyzing the narrative purpose of morally grey characters, they immediately label them as “problematic.”
(Eren, sinji, etc.)
6. Dogpiling and harassment.
Different opinion = “you’re dumb,” “you have bad taste,” they can even abuse you 🥀.
Why did I make this post?
Because the same thing happened to me.
I commented on a Dragon Ball edit:
“At this point you’re glazing it, bruh. I don’t hate DB, it was my first anime but IMO it’s a 7/10.”
By evening, I had 15+ replies like:
“Grow up kid, DB is the father of anime” 😭
“Sybau new gen kid, DB is the greatest anime of all time. Your favorite anime is inspired by DB, now cry”
(I’m still wondering how he knew my favorite anime and how it’s inspired by DB 😃🥀)
“Shut up Gen Z kid”
(The funny part? Judging by his pfp, he looked like he was barely 14–15 💀)
“At least it’s better than gay anime JoJo”
(because my pfp was Rohan Kishibe)
…and a lot of filthy abuses.
This is exactly why some anime fandom feels unbearable sometimes.
